Pamela Geller Still Excusing the EDL

BY ALEXANDER MELEAGROU-HITCHENS

Last week, I blogged about Pamela Geller's support for the English Defence League despite the mounting evidence of their extremist nature.  Today, she tried, and failed, to defend her position on the group.

Writing on her blog in reponse to accusations made by Little Green Footballs regarding her support for the EDL she claims:

The English Defence League came onto the scene after the grotesque attack on returning British soldiers by Muslims in Luton. (More here.) Anyone with an ounce of decency would stand with the EDL. They are accused of having neo-Nazis and racists in their ranks, but actually they expel anyone who manifests such tendencies; they have Hindus and Sikhs among their ranks, and even boast a Jewish Division.

[...]

the media focuses on EDL rallies, concentrating on rumors and fringe characters who attach themselves to the group before being expelled. The media never covers the actual speeches, positions, and people of the EDL. They hold the EDL to an impossible standard, while holding the Muslims and Leftists to no standard at all: no matter how barbaric the Left's rallies get, the media covers for them. [emphasis added]

The two sections I have higlighted are quite neatly refuted in this video of the EDL's Sikh member, Guramit Singh:

Extract:

God bless the muslims, they'll need it when they're burning in fucking hell

Singh was also exposed by the Asian news website the Samosa as having written some rather crazy and racist stuff on his Facebook page:

You know what, ive got an inkling the profit muhammed was really a bit of a adultering, raping, hate preaching looting Cunt!! Anyone agree, or is it just me????

the muzzies wanna keep away from me im just looking for an excuse im fucked off at the mo fuck the pakis ... i just think we shud burn the cunts now!!

Be careful if you go out driving today... driving conditions are awful, ive just come off the road and hit a muslim!! It took me 10 minutes, 2 fields and a golf course, but I got the fucker!!

Hes one of the greatest naturalist of all times, searched the world and showed the british public animals and plants from across the world through the aid of television, and I congratulate him on his retirement, but please before you do retire sir richard attenborough [sic], any chance you can find me a moderate muslim????

- [comment by Guramit Singh] hes just rung me and said hes got more chance of finding bin laden!!

- [comment by another supporter] Ordinary Muslims lol, there aint 1 in birmingham. They all have 6 inches of rat hair hangin from there chin
- [comment by Guramit Singh] how dare you compare muslims to rats, rats deserve more respest than that! lol

u know what does my head in, they say pork is a filthy animal, well ive been in the restaurant and pub business and the health and safety standards are so fucking high its incredible all the way from slaughter down to it being on a plate, but yet they grill frozen kebab meat on a scewer in the open air, the reason for it one of the elders told me they hate pork is because they could never afford it back in the day, 'let's put that in the quran gives us an excuse not to look like tramps when were trying to recruit to take over the world' CUNTS!!

[Comment aimed at a Muslim who insulted the EDL] hey amir how many times have u fucked your sister today, ure all a bunch of pedos, piss off back to pakistan!!

Geller still refuses to back down from her position on the EDL, and in the face of this and stacks of other evidence of their true nature, one does really have to question why that is.

Muslims are not a race.

There's been more violence on the recent student demonstrations than on any EDL protest, so that makes students far more "extremist" than the EDL, surely?

@Tyler - errr, no? The blog makes the post that Pamela Geller supports a violent, racist organisation, and makes excuses for them. I would be grateful if you would present to me the evidence of someone within the Democratic movement who has said (a) that it's ok to napalm the Republican Party convention or (b) all this talk of napalm attacks on the Republican party convention is just media misrepresentation. In fact, what's particularly worrying about your post is you contend that one violently extreme blogger (Geller) defending one extremist tiny organisation of thugs and hooligans equates to *someone related to a member of a major political party* making *the entire of that political party guilty by blood ties*. Blood guilt? Didn't that go out in the mdidle ages?

How can you be racist against your own race? He does not like Pakistanis, not people who are brown. He may be anti-muslim but could you explain to me how he is racist?

4 people were recently prosecuted for attempting to bomb the 2008 GOP convention with napalm, hoping to [paraphrase] " burn as many people alive as possible." (not to mention, one defendant is the son of a prominant Democrat) By the logic presented in the anti-EDL postings, I may very well utilze the very same logic to insist that that it is a general and accurate representation of the extremist nature of the entire liberal Democrat movement in the US
