Sir Raymond Carr in Standpoint

Sir Raymond Carr in Standpoint

Sir Raymond Carr, the distinguished historian of Spain and Warden of St Anthony's, Oxford, died aged 96 on April 19.

In 2009 he took part in a Standpoint dialogue with his friend Nicholas Mosley, the novelist and eldest son of British Fascist leader Oswald Mosely. In "When Britain Feared the Blackshirts", Carr, Mosley and Standpoint editor Daniel Johnson discussed the roots of British fascism at a time when the rise of the BNP suddenly gave their predecessors fresh relevance.
