The new film, and Stefan Aust's book, are contributing to the de-romanticisation of the Baader-Meinhof gang. Of course, romanticisation of the self was the essence of their problem, as it ultimately is of most of the world's terrorists past and present.

You may find this post interesting: http://selenadreamy.blogspot.com/2008/10/911-memorandum.html It's about Germany, Islamic terror, and the Baader-Meinhof types. i'm not equipped to evaluate it, though i suspect all the names mentioned therein will be more than familiar to yourself.

Dear Michael Just in case you're interested here is a lengthy interview with Horst Mahler of the B-M. It's pretty frightening stuff -but fits with your general views of the psychological make-up of terrorists: http://www.israelshamir.net/Contributors/Contributor72.htm
