Next Sunday afternoon, 21 November, I'm doing an open interview with Hélène Grimaud at the Institut Français in South Kensington. On the menu is her new CD, which handily doubles up as the recital programme she will be giving at the Royal Festival Hall next week.
Grimaud is a dazzling mass of paradoxes: a French pianist who doesn't play French music, a musician branded with her affection for certain large wild animals, and an artist whose dizzying international success has rarely involved playing by the rules. Do come and join us. Booking here. We kick off at 5pm - talking in English - and there'll be time for audience Q&A plus a CD signing session afterwards. She will be playing a recital at the Royal Festival Hall two days later, Tuesday 23 November.
Jessica Duchen is a music journalist and the author of four novels, two biographies and several stage works. She writes regularly for The Independent and BBC Music Magazine. Her latest novel, Songs of Triumphant Love, is published by Hodder.
